About The Guardians
The Guardians of the Navasota River are a group which has formed to oppose the proposed Millican Reservoir Project, which is a possible solution for the impending water shortage in Houston and surrounding areas. The Water Planning Boards working on this problem have suggested that the Navasota River be dammed, creating a reservoir that will flood 71,000+ acres in the Navasota River bottom (encompassing parts of Robertson, Grimes, Brazos, Leon and Madison Counties. This is land that we live on, work on, and many of us have owned for generations. There are other solutions to the problem, and we are here to make sure those are considered.

The thought occurs to me that Brazos and surrounding counties, who do not need this much water supply in the foreseeable future, are expected to sacrifice land and livelihood just to make Houston happy. Houston is consistently one of the most wasteful cities in America in regards to water resources; giving them this reservoir just encourages their bad habits.
I would like to know just exactly how much gray water reclamation, rainwater harvesting, and water conservation-education efforts Houston is engaged in. My guess is, none. Houston should exhaust every possible sustainable water alternative before they cry for their very own reservoir in our backyard!
