Everyone has been doing a wonderful job of collecting signatures on the petitions.  We will be using these petitions for several things – the first is Region H Public Comment section of their report and the deadline is closing in on us quick.  If you could return any petition that you have received signatures on by May 15, 2010 so that we can tally them all together and mail them with a letter to Region H and Region G we would be very grateful. 

To return the petition you can mail them to: Guardians of the Navasota River, PO Box 76, Kurten, TX  77862

Drop off sites are: RM Dudley Construction on Hwy 30, Kurten Store and Grill in Kurten, and Kurten Vet Clinic on 2038. 

If you don’t know where these places are or they are out of your way call 281-703-8205 and we will make arrangements with you to get them picked up!

Keep on getting signatures, we should keep up this campaign through January 2011, even though we have turned them in to the Water Board Planning Groups.  These will be sent on to Legislatures, Representatives, and others that need to know we oppose this reservoir.  Thanks for all your help and we are making huge progress and people are taking notice.

There is a meeting on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Edge Community Center.   We hope to see all interested parties in attendance where they will learn more about the Millican Reservoir Project and what we, The Guardians of the Navasota River, are doing to stop it.

What’s new in this report?  Clay gathered his own information from the Region H Water Planning Group and took it to Professor Raghavan Srinivasan in the Spatial Sciences department at Texas A&M.  This is what he had to say:

Based on the original number that ya’ll gave us if you include the area in Carter Creek which goes right behind Sam’s Club and the Veteran’s Park and things like that, so there’s a potential the area could be under the water all the way up to Highway 6 actually

Do we, the Guardians of the Navasota River, think this is going to happen to our beloved College Station?

Do I think the Post Oak Mall is going to be flooded? No, absolutely not. Is it in this proposal, depending on where the dam location is? Possibly so. (Robert Averyt, The Guardians of the Navasota River)
